Brazilian winger Igor Paixao, who has been a transfer target for Serie A clubs like Roma and Atalanta this summer, will likely see any potential move delayed after Feyenoord announced he suffered a serious injury.
Paixao enjoyed a spectacular season for the Dutch side, contributing 18 goals and 19 assists across 47 matches, attracting significant attention from clubs across Europe.
He was specifically identified as a key target for Roma, while Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini had also attempted to sign him in the previous season.
However, his immediate future is now uncertain as he picked up a significant muscular injury during a pre-season training session on Thursday.
Feyenoord`s official statement confirmed the injury is more severe than initially assessed, indicating he will be sidelined for “several weeks” and will “miss the start of the 2025-26 season.”
This significant setback will undoubtedly cause any interested clubs to reassess their plans for acquiring the player.
The Brazilian forward, who turned 25 last month, remains under contract with Feyenoord until June 2029.
