ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023’s Warm-up match between Pakistan and Australia is being played today at Hyderabad. Earlier in the day, Pat Cummins offered his batters to open their shoulders against Pakistani batters and set a huge total of 351/7 in 50 overs. Maxwell, Warner and Green with their fifties lift Australia to the driving seat. 

Two left-arm Pakistani openers: Imam ul Haq and Fakhar Zaman came into the middle for breaking the shackles and setting the tone for Pakistan in this big chase against Australian mighty pace attack.  Mitchell Stars and Pat Cummins open the bowling for Australia to defend 351 in the practice game of ICC Cricket WC23 against Pakistan. 

Pakistan were making swift progress until and unless Cummins removed Imam who edged to the keeper’s gloves. Imam went after scoring 16 off 11 at 146. Pakistan were 35 for 1 in 5.1.

Next came Abdullah Shafique to handle the pace from both ends. Australian captain, introduced spin in the 7th over where he trapped Fakhar who came down the track to hit the ball over the bowler’s head and went on 22 off 24 striking at 92 and warner took an easy catch.

Abdullah Shafiq also couldn’t bear the pressure of a big run chase and fell prey to Sean Abbott in the 12th over of the innings when Pakistan were on 62/3. He could only add 12 off 16. Next Came Skipper Shadab to tickle the scorecard but he went back to the pavillion after scoring only 9 off 8. Paksitan were 83/4 at the end of 15.

Babar and Iftikhar got settled and began smashing the ball out of the park. They were down and out but both batters played sensibly. Both of them looked shifting gears and paced the innings to meet the requirement of the chase. But, Iftikhar missed the length ball and ended in falling on 227 in the 32nd over on Labuschagne’s ball. He made 83 off 85 with six 4s and four 6s.

Pakistan required another 125 in the last 18 overs with 5 wickets in hand. Nawaz came in to carry the day with Babar and take Pakistan home.

Babar got retired hurt at 255 after scoring 90 off 59 with handsome strike rate of 152. His excellent knock included eleven 4s and two 6s handing over Agha to finish the job. But Salman again disappointed with his out of form struggle and never got benefit of last few overs. Pakistan required 83 more in the last 12 overs.

Usama Mir came next to showcase his hard hitting talent and added 15 to team’s total but got out on 301 in the 42nd over of the match. Pakistan were 300 up too requiring 50 in last 8 overs with 3 wickets in hand.

Nawaz led the team after Babar and reached his half century in 41 deliveries. As usual when Pakistani batters get settled they give away their wickets and this happened this time too when Nawaz got out on 50 off 42 in the 46th over.

Wasim Jr. was the last man to bat with Hassan as Babar got retired out. They neede only 21 in the final 3 overs but couldn’t complete the task and got out at long on. Pakistan lost by 14 runs with Labuschagne picking the final wicket of Hassan Ali.
