Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur has officially announced the return of Fabio Paratici as their new sporting director. This marks his second tenure with the North London team, a move he described by saying, “I`m thrilled to be back at a club I deeply care for.”
Paratici previously held the Director of Football position at Tottenham from 2021 to 2023, following a decade-long career with Juventus where he served as sporting director and then managing director.
In 2023, he faced a 30-month suspension imposed by the FIGC, which was subsequently affirmed and globally extended by FIFA. This ban stemmed from an investigation into alleged fictitious capital gains during his time at Juventus. The suspension officially ended in July of this year.
Before his re-appointment at Tottenham, Paratici had explored the possibility of joining Milan as their sporting director. However, the Italian club ultimately opted against the move due to lingering legal concerns, choosing Igli Tare instead.
Speculation about Paratici`s return to Tottenham had been circulating. The club has now confirmed his comeback, where he will serve as sporting director, sharing responsibilities with Johan Lange.
“I’m delighted to be returning to a club that I love,” Paratici stated on Tottenham`s official website.
He further elaborated on his preparatory work: “I have been collaborating with Johan, Vinai (Venkatesham), and Thomas (Frank) in a consultancy capacity for several months. I eagerly anticipate relocating to London and dedicating myself full-time to the team. I am confident that by working closely with Johan, we can forge a remarkable future for the Club and its dedicated supporters.”
Tottenham has also indicated plans to appoint a new director of football operations. This individual will provide crucial support to both Paratici and Lange in their daily duties.
