Paris FC Breaks Club Record with Otávio Transfer from Porto

Football & Cricket

Paris FC, recently promoted to Ligue 1, has officially announced the acquisition of 23-year-old central defender Otávio from Portuguese giants FC Porto. Both clubs confirmed the transfer, which sees Otávio committing to the Arnault-owned PFC on a five-year contract. The young defender had been identified as a priority target for Paris FC, though they had also considered former Marseille centre-back Chancel Mbemba internally in recent weeks. Despite joining Porto in January 2024 for €12.3 million, Otávio`s playing time significantly diminished during the latter half of the season, notably featuring for a mere four minutes at the Club World Cup.

Otávio marks Paris FC`s third significant summer signing, following the earlier arrivals of Nantes winger Moses Simon and Reims left-back Nhoa Sangui. According to reports from L`Equipe, the transfer fee paid for the Brazilian centre-back shatters Paris FC`s existing club record. It is understood that FC Porto agreed to Otávio`s departure for a transfer fee estimated to be between €10 million and €12 million.

“We are delighted to welcome Otávio. He is a defender of a certain profile that we did not have,” stated PFC Sporting Director François Ferracci. “He has significant potential and very strong qualities.”
