Paris FC’s Ambitious Summer Pursuits: From Amrabat to Melou

Newly promoted Paris FC reportedly made an attempt to acquire Sofyan Amrabat, 29, this summer, according to a report from Foot Mercato. This pursuit came after their initial plans to sign Lille`s captain and midfielder Benjamin André did not materialize.

Discussions are said to have taken place between Paris FC and Amrabat`s representatives. PFC manager Stéphane Gilli, who previously worked with Amrabat in Morocco, was reportedly at the forefront of these negotiations. Despite this, the Moroccan international, who has played for clubs like Fiorentina, Manchester United, and Fenerbahçe, ultimately opted for a transfer to La Liga`s Real Betis.

Following Amrabat`s decision, Paris FC shifted their focus and successfully secured the signing of Stade Brestois` key player, Pierre-Lees Melou. Melou joined the club in late August on a contract valid until 2027.

Paris FC celebrated their return to Ligue 1 by securing a 3-2 victory over Metz just before the international break. This marks a significant moment for Les Parisiens, as their promotion from Ligue 2 last season ended a 46-year absence from France`s top football division.
