Pol Lirola: Potential Serie A Comeback on a Budget

Football & Cricket

Spanish full-back Pol Lirola is reportedly considering a return to Serie A, with several Italian clubs expressing interest. According to Footmercato, Pisa, Udinese, Genoa, and Parma are actively monitoring the Olympique Marseille defender.

Lirola, who will celebrate his 28th birthday next month, is no stranger to Italian football. He has made 153 appearances in Serie A, contributing four goals and 15 assists during his previous stints.

His journey in Italy began in 2015 when he joined the Juventus youth academy. He subsequently played for Sassuolo, Fiorentina, and Frosinone, becoming a familiar face in the Italian top flight.

Extensive Serie A Experience for Lirola

Fiorentina sold Lirola to Olympique Marseille in 2021 for €13.5 million. However, he struggled to make a significant impact in France, leading to loan spells with Elche and Frosinone.

Footmercato reports that the right-back is now expected to move back to Serie A. With his contract at Marseille set to expire in June 2026, the rumored asking price is a modest €5-6 million, making him an appealing option for clubs looking for an experienced player at a reasonable cost.

While Pisa seems to be the most eager suitor, Genoa, Udinese, and Parma are also closely following the situation. Earlier reports had also linked Lirola with a potential move to Serie B side Palermo.
