Micky van de Ven Commits Future to Tottenham with New Long-Term Deal

Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven has expressed his enthusiasm for the club's trajectory after committing his future with a new long-term contract. The Netherlands international, who initially joined Spurs from Wolfsburg in 2023 on a six-year agreement, has extended his stay in North London.

Sources indicate that Van de Ven's decision to prolong his tenure was significantly influenced by the appointment of Roberto de Zerbi as manager in March. This move proved pivotal for the 25-year-old defender in choosing to remain with Tottenham.

Van de Ven played a key role in Tottenham's success, contributing to their Europa League victory in 2025. He also served as captain for the final six matches of the previous season, a period during which the team secured their Premier League status, narrowly avoiding relegation.

"I've always felt a strong connection with Spurs, from the very first day I arrived," Van de Ven stated. "I love this club, I adore the fans, and I've experienced significant development here. Spurs manager Roberto de Zerbi lauded Van de Ven, describing him as "one of the best centre-backs in Europe and an essential player for us." He added, "We are building something substantial here, and players like Micky are integral to that future."

Since his arrival from the Bundesliga, Van de Ven has made 96 appearances across all competitions for Tottenham. He has also earned 24 caps for the Netherlands, representing his country at the World Cup earlier this summer.

Tottenham has faced challenges in recent seasons, finishing 17th in consecutive seasons and only just avoiding relegation on the final day of the 2025-26 campaign. However, the club has made substantial investments this summer, spending £237 million, including a club-record £100 million for Sandro Tonali from Newcastle.
