According to a report from L`Equipe, 21-year-old PSG defender Lucas Beraldo has submitted a transfer request to the Ligue 1 club`s executives during the ongoing Club World Cup competition. The young Brazilian international is reportedly seeking increased opportunities for playing time and wishes to prove his worth at another club.
Beraldo joined PSG from São Paulo approximately eighteen months ago in a deal valued at €20 million. Despite his desire to leave, reports suggest he is happy living in Paris and appreciates the competitive environment at PSG where he has had the chance to develop.
However, Beraldo is reportedly aware that he is primarily viewed as a backup player, called upon when one of the two starting centre-backs is unavailable. He started Sunday`s Club World Cup final due to the absence of Willian Pacho, a match where he reportedly faced challenges containing opposition forwards like Cole Palmer and João Pedro. Nevertheless, his performance filling in for Marquinhos during the Champions League quarter-finals against Aston Villa significantly boosted his confidence in his ability to perform at the highest level. With the 2026 World Cup now less than a year away, the Brazil international is said to be ready to make a bold career move.
PSG officials were reportedly surprised by Beraldo`s request. However, given the Champions League winners` stated intention to build a squad composed of players fully committed to Luis Enrique`s project, the club has, in principle, agreed to his departure under certain conditions. These conditions stipulate that PSG must successfully sign their primary defensive target – reportedly Illya Zabarnyi from Bournemouth – and that Beraldo`s sale must command a substantial transfer fee, expected to be above the €30 million mark.
