Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Lille OSC have reportedly reached a verbal agreement concerning the transfer of the highly-rated 23-year-old French youth international goalkeeper, Lucas Chevalier.
This significant development unfolds amidst persistent uncertainty surrounding the future of PSG`s current first-choice goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma. Despite his commendable performances, particularly during the latest UEFA Champions League campaign, the Italian`s contract is slated to conclude at the end of the next football season.
The preceding weeks have been pivotal in addressing Donnarumma`s contractual situation. Eager to prevent a recurrence of the prolonged saga involving Kylian Mbappé`s contract, PSG reportedly presented Donnarumma with a straightforward ultimatum: either commit to a new, long-term deal or consider a departure from the club. As of now, an agreement for an extension has not been secured, prompting the Parisian powerhouse to actively pursue a potential successor.
PSG has maintained a long-standing interest in Chevalier, and this interest has now culminated in concrete transfer negotiations. According to reports, a verbal agreement has been successfully established with Lille. The talented French goalkeeper is now poised to make his move to the Parc des Princes in a deal estimated to be worth approximately €40 million.
Upon his arrival, Chevalier is expected to sign a comprehensive five-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain. Only minor administrative details and formalities remain to be finalized before the transfer is officially completed and announced.
