Presnel Kimpembe, 29, has faced significant challenges since sustaining an Achilles injury two and a half years ago, an ailment that sidelined him for nearly two full years. Despite making his return to football in 2025, the French defender has struggled to secure a regular place in Paris Saint-Germain`s squad.
Last season, Kimpembe participated in just five matches, accumulating a mere 76 minutes on the pitch, all of which occurred during the latter half of the campaign. His comeback was further complicated by a series of recurring minor injuries, preventing him from maintaining consistent fitness and availability.
It has become clear that Kimpembe is not considered a central part of coach Luis Enrique`s future plans for PSG. The defender requires substantial game time to regain his rhythm and full form, a guarantee that cannot be provided at his current club, especially with the potential arrival of new defensive signings, such as Illia Zabarnyi from Bournemouth.
Consequently, Paris Saint-Germain is actively seeking to transfer Kimpembe this summer. With his current contract set to expire next summer, the club is looking to finalize a move in the upcoming transfer window, contingent on the player`s agreement.
