Atalanta`s president, Antonio Percassi, recently disclosed that Paris Saint-Germain made an unsuccessful attempt to acquire Ademola Lookman during the previous summer transfer window.
During a press conference, which was transcribed by L’Équipe, Percassi elaborated that PSG`s interest surged following Lookman`s impressive hat-trick in the Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen. Percassi stated, “We had an understanding with Lookman established a year ago, at which point we declined a €20 million offer from PSG.”
Percassi further indicated that Atalanta had assured the 27-year-old Nigerian international that he would be permitted to leave in 2025 for a “top-tier club,” provided it was not another team in Serie A. Nevertheless, Lookman`s current preferred destination appears to be Inter Milan, with whom he has reportedly reached a preliminary agreement.
Despite these developments, the transfer is far from finalized. Percassi emphasized that Atalanta retains ultimate control over the forward`s future, confirming that the club rejected Inter`s most recent bid—valued at €45 million including potential bonuses—over the past weekend.
While Lookman has publicly expressed his desire to depart Bergamo this summer, PSG`s interest is now a matter of historical record, and Inter`s recent offers have been turned down, leaving his ultimate destination for the upcoming season uncertain.
