Paris Saint-Germain`s efforts to sign goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, 23, have reportedly hit a significant hurdle. While the young French international is said to have already agreed to a five-year contract with the reigning Ligue 1 champions, negotiations between PSG and Lille OSC have reached an impasse.
According to a report from L’Équipe, Lille has made it clear to PSG that they will only sanction Chevalier`s departure once a suitable replacement has been secured. The club is keen to avoid a repeat of past situations, such as when Mike Maignan moved to AC Milan, which left a void that Léo Jardim and Ivo Grbić struggled to fill.
Lille has been actively searching for a new goalkeeper in recent days. Although they appear to have missed out on Robin Roefs, 22, who is reportedly close to joining Sunderland AFC, sources indicate that the Dutch U21 international was not at the top of Lille`s priority list. Lille`s current shortlist for a new custodian includes Guillaume Restes from Toulouse FC, Jeffrey de Lange of Olympique de Marseille, and Tottenham Hotspur`s Antonín Kinský.
