PSL 2024: Will PCB alter the venue of the final due to low participation in Karachi? As the ninth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) draws to a close, concerns are being raised over voting at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, sparking discussions in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over changes as they may be the place for the latter.

Despite the performances of big players like Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultan sadly saw vacancy in Qualifier 1, raising questions about the city’s enthusiasm for the tournament.

While matches in Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi saw good attendance, Karachi seemed to be lagging in terms of fan participation, leading to rumors that the remaining matches would be rescheduled.

However, the PCB is adamant in its decision to stick with Karachi as the designated venue, citing the home and away format of PSL 9, with Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators representing the city.

While acknowledging the logistical challenges of changing tournaments at short notice, PCB officials say the structure of the tournament makes Karachi an ideal host city.

Despite the current situation, there is optimism within the PCB that attendance may pick up in the later stages of the tournament, especially for Eliminator 2 and the final match.

Interestingly, the upcoming PSL 9 final is scheduled to be played on Monday, deviating from the traditional weekend finale seen in previous editions. This format change adds another dimension to the tournament finale.
