PSL 9: Watson wants to make Wasim Jr. into the Andre Russell of Pakistan. Quetta Gladiators head coach Shane Watson has lauded all-rounder Mohammad Waseem Jr for his outstanding performance in the ninth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Wasim’s energetic bowling, especially his impressive six in the last match against Lahore Qalandars skipper Shaheen Afridi, propelled Quetta Gladiators to the playoffs.

Former Australian Watson highlighted Wasim’s exceptional hands eyes and strength and emphasized the need for him to be lined up at the crease as he was equal to West Indies powerful all-rounder Andre Russell, and Watson imitating Russell’s breaking batting style Kartur showed confidence in Wasim’s abilities along with his pace bowling skills.

“We’ve been talking to Mohammed Wasim Jr. since the first game about being as calm as possible. He’s got incredible hand-eye coordination and power, so he just needs to stay steady and believe he can break it, ” Watson recalls the exciting aftermath.

“We are talking about the skill and ability with the bat to transform himself into Pakistan’s Andre Russell. We already know what he has with the ball, and he has the incredible athleticism we have seen on the field,” he added.

With their victory, Quetta eliminated Karachi Kings from the running for the final four slots. The playoff spots of Islamabad United, Quetta Gladiators, Peshawar Zalmi, and Multan Sultans were guaranteed.

In other games, Islamabad United defeated Multan Sultans in a dramatic victory at the Pindi Cricket Ground to guarantee their postseason position. On the last ball, Imad Waseem of Islamabad was instrumental in leading his team to victory as the nailed shot went down to the wire.
