Premier League giants Liverpool and Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are reportedly set to challenge Marseille in the pursuit of Lyon attacker Malick Fofana.
The 20-year-old Belgian international winger has attracted significant interest from several top European clubs, including an unnamed fourth club, following his impressive performance last season.
Lyon is currently facing financial difficulties and needs to sell players this summer to improve their balance sheet. This situation has made Fofana, who contributed 11 goals and 5 assists across all competitions in the previous campaign, a prime candidate for a transfer.
Although Marseille has identified Fofana as a target, securing a deal is expected to be difficult. The fierce rivalry between Lyon and Marseille, combined with the entry of major European clubs like Liverpool and Bayern into the race, makes a move to OM less likely.
For Liverpool, Fofana could potentially be considered as a replacement option, particularly if forward Luis Diaz attracts concrete offers from clubs like Bayern Munich or Barcelona, who are reportedly interested in the Colombian.
