Olympique Lyonnais is reportedly set to strengthen its attacking lineup with the return of Rachid Ghezzal (33) on a free transfer, according to reports from L`Équipe. This strategic move follows Les Gones` inability to secure a recognized striker on transfer deadline day, prompting them to pursue additional reinforcements after the window had closed.
Ghezzal, an Algerian international and a product of Lyon`s renowned academy, previously left the Rhône club for Monaco on a free transfer in 2017. During his initial spell, the versatile attacker, who also played for Leicester City, made 119 appearances for OL, scoring 19 goals. Eight years later, the 33-year-old is poised for a homecoming to his boyhood club.
OL has reportedly reached an agreement for an initial one-year contract with the Algerian right-winger, which includes an option for an additional year. Ghezzal is currently a free agent, having recently departed Turkish Super League side Rizespor upon the expiration of his contract.
