It has been officially announced that Rachid Ghezzal (33), an alumnus of Olympique Lyonnais, has returned to the club, signing a one-year contract.
Ghezzal developed his skills through Lyon`s prestigious academy, going on to make 119 appearances for the first team, scoring 14 goals and providing 20 assists. In 2017, the Algerian footballer left Olympique to join AS Monaco as a free agent, and a year later, he moved to Leicester City.
He subsequently had loan spells at Fiorentina and Besiktas, with his move to the Turkish club becoming permanent in 2021. Last summer, he became a free agent again, departing Besiktas to join their Turkish rivals, Rizespor. There, he scored four goals in 25 appearances before his contract expired this summer.
As a free agent, Ghezzal is now back at Lyon, having signed a one-year deal. The contract includes an option for a further year, which will depend on his playing time during the current season.
