Afghan spinner Rashid Khan has claimed the No. 1 spot in the International Cricket Council (ICC) ODI bowler rankings following his team`s dominant 3-0 series sweep against Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi. Khan, who previously held the top position in November 2024, has now reclaimed it, ascending from sixth place. His stellar performance in the series saw him take 11 wickets with an impressive average of 6.09 and an economy rate of 2.73, accumulating 710 rating points. This places him 30 points clear of South Africa`s Keshav Maharaj.
Meanwhile, Ibrahim Zadran was named Player of the Series for his exceptional batting, scoring 213 runs at an average of 71 across three innings. His strong showing propelled him eight places up to No. 2 in the ODI batting rankings, marking the highest achievement ever by an Afghanistan batter in this category. He now trails Shubman Gill by just 20 points and is eight points ahead of Rohit Sharma.
In the all-rounders category, Afghanistan`s Azmatullah Omarzai recaptured the top position from Zimbabwe`s Sikandar Raza. Omarzai delivered an impressive performance, taking seven wickets (the second-highest in the series) and scoring 60 runs in the three ODIs against Bangladesh. He had previously held the No. 1 rank from February to August.
India`s left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav achieved his career-best ranking among Test bowlers, climbing seven spots to 14th. This came after he emerged as the leading wicket-taker in the two-match series against West Indies, securing 12 wickets at an average of 19.50. India`s opener Yashasvi Jaiswal also moved up from seventh to fifth in the Test batting rankings following his outstanding 175-run knock in the first innings of the Delhi Test.
