Another winner of the 2018 World Cup appears set to join Ligue 1 this season. RC Lens has reportedly reached a full agreement with Udinese for the transfer of 32-year-old Florian Thauvin.
Thauvin`s move, for which Lens`s €6 million bid was accepted, follows the summer acquisitions of Paul Pogba and Olivier Giroud by French clubs. Thauvin previously played as a forward for Olympique de Marseille and Newcastle United.
Thauvin is expected to arrive in northern France this evening to complete his return to a league he has not played in since leaving Marseille for Mexican side Tigres UANL in 2021. The forward has reportedly been offered a three-year contract.
Lens has been actively looking to bolster their attacking options this summer, particularly after the departures of M’bala Nzola (who returned to parent club Fiorentina) and Goduine Koyalipou (who was loaned to Levante with an option to make the deal permanent).
