RC Lens is reportedly poised to intercept Toulouse FC`s attempt to sign Saud Abdulhamid (26), a significant development first reported by Foot Mercato.
The Saudi Arabia international defender, Abdulhamid, seemed destined for a summer transfer to Toulouse. AS Roma, his current club, had been seeking new acquisitions before approving Abdulhamid`s departure. Following Wesley`s arrival at the Serie A club, Abdulhamid`s transfer appeared imminent.
Nevertheless, L’Équipe now reports that a transfer to Le TéFéCé appears highly improbable, despite the Ligue 1 club`s continued efforts to finalize the agreement. Instead, RC Lens, who have maintained a long-term interest in the defender, are intensifying their pursuit of Abdulhamid.
Abdulhamid has emerged as a prime target for Les Sang et Or following their decision that re-signing Przemyslaw Frankowski from Galatasaray would be financially unfeasible. The Polish international had only departed Lens for Galatasaray during the recent winter transfer window.
