Real Madrid has confirmed a new injury setback affecting one of its first-team players this week. Defender Álvaro Carreras is now facing a period on the sidelines.
Carreras had previously missed last Friday’s match against Celta Vigo, which Real Madrid won, due to a one-match La Liga suspension. It was initially hoped that he would be available for the upcoming Champions League clash against Manchester City.
However, these hopes have been dashed. According to a statement released by Real Madrid on Monday, medical tests confirmed that Carreras has sustained a muscle injury in the calf of his right leg. His return to action will depend on his recovery progress.
