Federico Valverde, a standout player for Real Madrid, has earned a significant individual accolade. It has been confirmed that the Uruguayan midfielder has been awarded the UEFA Champions League Goal of the Season for the 2025/26 campaign.
Valverde’s exceptional goal occurred during the first leg of the Round of 16 tie against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in March. While en route to being named Man of the Match, the midfielder delivered a moment of individual brilliance to complete a remarkable hat-trick.
After being played through by Brahim Díaz, Valverde expertly lifted the ball over the head of Marc Guéhi with a delicate first touch, before unleashing a powerful volley into the far corner of the Manchester City net.
This stunning performance has led to the 27-year-old receiving fitting recognition earlier this week. Valverde triumphed over strong competition to claim the coveted Champions League Goal of the Season award.
He becomes the second Real Madrid player to receive an individual trophy in the past 24 hours, following Arda Güler, who was named Young Player of the Season in the Champions League.
