The 28-year-old PSG midfielder, Renato Sanches, has officially completed a loan move to Greek club Panathinaikos. This agreement, announced by both clubs, notably does not include an option to buy the player at the end of the loan spell. The Portuguese international had returned to Paris this summer following a season-long loan at Benfica, where he featured in 21 matches across all competitions.
Despite his return, Sanches was not integrated into manager Luis Enrique`s first-team plans. Instead, he was assigned to the club`s `loft` – a designation for players deemed surplus to requirements and expected to depart before the close of the transfer window.
Sanches` time at Parc des Princes has proven largely unsuccessful for the former Bayern Munich midfielder, leading to yet another temporary departure from the French capital. Prior to his recent stint at Benfica, he also spent time on loan at Roma. PSG acquired Sanches from Lille in 2022 for a fee of €15 million, and his current contract with the Parisian giants is set to run until 2027.
