French club Rennes is reportedly set to acquire Galatasaray`s 30-year-old right-back Przemyslaw Frankowski, in a deal structured as a loan with an obligatory purchase clause. This move comes as Rennes sought a new right-back following the departure of their academy product, Lorenz Assignon, to VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga.
Reports indicate that an agreement between Rennes and Galatasaray is imminent, paving the way for the Polish international to return to Ligue 1 just half a year after his departure from RC Lens.
Discussions between the clubs reportedly advanced significantly earlier this week, particularly once Rennes emerged as the sole remaining suitor for Frankowski`s services. Frankowski himself had already agreed to the transfer to Rennes approximately ten days prior.
Other interested clubs, such as Paris FC, had withdrawn their bids, instead focusing on Real Sociedad`s Hamari Traoré. RC Lens, who had also considered bringing Frankowski back, are now reportedly close to securing a deal for Roma`s Saud Abdulhamid.
