Football club Rennes has established an undesirable record in Ligue 1, becoming the first team to receive two red cards within just over ten minutes of a match. This unfortunate incident occurred during their away game against their Breton rivals, Lorient.
Referee Jérôme Brisard was central to the drama, sending off two Rennes players in quick succession. The first to see red was Mahdi Camara, whose debut for the club was abruptly cut short in the sixth minute after an unintentional kick to opponent Karim Dermane`s chest. Following this, Cameroon international defender Christopher Wooh was also dismissed for a last-man foul on Aiyegun Tosin, leaving his team at a significant numerical disadvantage early in the game.
According to official statistics from Opta, Rennes became the first team in Ligue 1 history to pick up two red cards in precisely 10 minutes and 4 seconds. As a direct consequence of being two men down, Rennes` head coach Habib Beye was forced to make immediate tactical adjustments, replacing striker Kader Meïté with versatile defender Mahamadou Nagida to try and stabilize his depleted side.
