Rickey Ponting chooses 3 best players of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023

Rickey Ponting chooses 3 best players of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Ricky Ponting, a former captain of Australia, named his three favourite players for the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup.

Australia’s three-time World Cup winner and two-time World Cup captain Ricky Ponting identified the top three players in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup in India during an interview with ICC. Many were surprised when Ponting chose no Indian players, even though the leading run-getters included both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

Two South Africans and one Australian were targeted by Ricky Ponting. Adam Zampa was his first choice. With 19 wickets taken in this CWC 2023, the Australian spinner leads all other players in the event in wicket-taking.

“It’s rather difficult to surpass Adam Zampa, the tournament’s top wicket-taker. He didn’t take any wickets in the first two games he played, but he recovered and is currently ranked #1 with 18 or 19 wickets. “Adam Zampa has been excellent,” Ponting told ICC.

South African players Quinton de Kock and Marco Jansen were his next two selections. De Kock, who is participating in his last ODI competition, has amassed 545 runs and four hundreds. Marco Jansen, on the other hand, has amassed 143 runs with a best of 75* and claimed 16 wickets at a best of 3/31.

“This is possibly Quinton de Kock’s final World Cup, given he has four hundreds in this competition. Ricky Ponting said, “He has led a very strong South African batting brigade, so it’s very hard to go past him.”

“For the final one, I’m actually aiming for Marco Jansen, a fellow South African. The former Australian captain continued, “He has been able to provide South Africa some useful low order runs in addition to getting wickets with the new ball and setting up their bowling innings with Powerplay wickets.
