Richard Rios is reportedly willing to forfeit his 10% share of a potential transfer fee to facilitate his desired move to Europe and make him more affordable for AS Roma. Palmeiras, his current club, has set an asking price of €30 million plus bonuses, a figure that has led to the rejection of previous offers.
Palmeiras previously dismissed bids of €25 million (plus add-ons) from Roma, Benfica, and Nottingham Forest. The Brazilian club`s valuation, which includes at least €30 million as a fixed fee and additional performance-based bonuses, was influenced by Rios`s strong showing in the FIFA Club World Cup.
Rios` Gesture Can Aid Roma`s Pursuit

According to Brazilian outlet Globoesporte, Rios`s decision to waive his percentage is a significant effort to push through a transfer to Europe and lower his overall valuation. This move is particularly impactful because Palmeiras only holds 70% of Rios`s contract rights. The remaining portions are distributed among the player (10%), his former club Guarani (13.34%), and his first club Flamengo (6.66%).
By relinquishing his 10% share, Rios aims to increase the net amount Palmeiras would receive from a transfer, potentially encouraging them to accept a reduced offer. Roma, who have indicated a willingness to increase their bid to a total of €30 million, hope this gesture will help them finalize a deal before rival clubs like Benfica can intervene.
