Given that his name is absent from the list of the 12 players, Sarfaraz Ahmed has undoubtedly been left out of the starting 11. For the second Test, Mohammad Rizwan enters the game as both a batsman and a wicketkeeper. Faheem Ashraf, an all-round player with quick bowling, has also been dropped at the same moment. Sajid Khan is the only spinner in the 12-man squad for the second Test. After reviewing the pitch, the final selection for the starting XI will be made.

Australia chose not to alter the winning combination from the first Test, therefore they stayed the same for the second Test. Unfortunately, Scott Boland, the hometown hero of Melbourne, is still benched. Although Boland’s skill was acknowledged, captain Pat Cummins disclosed that the pace attack will be led by the formidable combination of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Cummins himself, with Boland being placed on standby.
Boland, in the 2021–22 Ashes, made a spectacular start on the cricket scene as he claimed 6-7 against England at the MCG. However, Boland will have to wait for his chance because the present lineup is prepared and in top form.
Admiring Boland, Cummins pointed out that adjustments are inevitable in a lengthy Test series because of small injuries or unanticipated events. He reassured Boland that he is still ready and urged him to wait for his opportunity with consistency.
