AS Roma is poised to miss out on securing Palmeiras` talented player, Richard Rios. It appears that Rios is instead on the brink of finalizing a transfer to Benfica, a prominent club in the Portuguese Primeira Liga.
Rios Set to Join Benfica Over Roma
Sources indicate that an agreement between Benfica and Palmeiras for Rios is very close to completion. The Brazilian club is expected to receive a transfer fee potentially exceeding €30 million.
This €30 million valuation was the same amount quoted to Roma when they initially approached to sign the 25-year-old Colombian international. However, Roma was unable to reach an agreement on the terms.

Interestingly, while Benfica`s interest in Rios hadn`t been widely reported until recently, it has come to light that the Portuguese club had representatives in Brazil for several days, diligently working to secure the deal.
Benfica is now reportedly awaiting final approval from Palmeiras to seal the transfer, effectively sidelining Roma from the race for the midfielder.
