AS Roma faces financial discrepancies in their attempts to sign Flamengo`s promising full-back, Wesley, as they remain €5 million short of the Brazilian club`s valuation. Concurrently, Brighton & Hove Albion are taking a firm stance on their negotiations for Irish forward Evan Ferguson, insisting on a mandatory purchase clause should Roma secure his services.
According to recent reports from the Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, Roma continues its vigorous efforts to bring both players into their squad. However, the discussions are yet to reach a definitive agreement.
Is Roma Ready to Commit to the Ferguson Deal?
Sources indicate that Flamengo is demanding €25 million for Wesley, while the Giallorossi have only tabled an offer of up to €20 million so far. Despite this financial gap, there is an underlying sense of optimism that an agreement can ultimately be reached.
The acquisition of Evan Ferguson appears to be a more intricate challenge for Roma compared to the Wesley negotiations. Reports suggest that Roma`s new head coach, Gian Piero Gasperini, is highly interested in the young Irish striker. Nevertheless, Premier League club Brighton is reportedly creating significant difficulties, impeding Roma`s progress in securing a deal.
While both clubs are amenable to a loan arrangement for Ferguson, they are currently at an impasse concerning the nature of the buy-out clause. Brighton is adamant about an obligation-to-buy, whereas Roma`s initial preference was an option-to-buy.
This situation is further complicated by the Seagulls` hefty price-tag for Ferguson, set between €30 million and €40 million. This represents a substantial financial commitment for the Giallorossi if they are determined to complete this transfer.
