Batter Saif Hassan has received his inaugural call-up to Bangladesh`s One Day International (ODI) squad, while Nurul Hasan makes a comeback after a two-year hiatus. Both players are set to feature in the forthcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi.

Saif Hassan`s inclusion follows a strong return to the T20I squad in August against the Netherlands, capped by notable performances in the Asia Cup. During the Super Four stage, he scored 61 against Sri Lanka and 69 against India. Nurul Hasan`s return is bolstered by his crucial 23 not out from 13 balls, which secured a victory for Bangladesh in the first T20I against Afghanistan. Both players are known for their consistent form in domestic List-A cricket.

Litton Das was not considered for the ODI squad as he continues his recovery from a side strain suffered during the Asia Cup, an injury that also sidelined him from the current T20I series against Afghanistan. Meanwhile, Parvez Hossain Emon, who was part of the ODI squad that faced Afghanistan in July, has been omitted by the selectors.

Complications with UAE visas have affected several Bangladeshi players. Mohammad Naim, despite being selected for the ODI squad, remains in Dhaka awaiting his visa. Similarly, Soumya Sarkar, currently in the T20I squad for the ongoing series, has been unable to travel to Sharjah, though he is not part of the ODI contingent. The remaining members—ODI captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Hasan Mahmud, Tanvir Islam, and Nahid Rana—are scheduled to depart for the UAE on Friday to link up with the team.

The second and third T20Is between Bangladesh and Afghanistan will take place in Sharjah on October 3 and 5. The ODI series will then commence in Abu Dhabi on October 8, followed by matches on October 11 and 14.
