Frattini secured his spot in the final with a throw exceeding eighty meters, achieving a season-best of 80.54 meters. The championship is being held in Birmingham, and Frattini, originally from Emilia, will compete for a medal on August 15th. Another Italian competitor, Michele Fina, was eliminated after not surpassing 77.56 meters.
Frattini, born in 2002, achieved the seventh-best overall mark in Group B. His third and final throw officially guaranteed him a place in the European Athletics Championship final in Paris. In contrast, Michele Fina, competing in Group A, failed to advance. After initial throws of 72.84 and 77.56 meters, his third attempt was a foul, effectively ending his chances of reaching the final. The top performances in the competition came from German athletes Julian Weber, with a throw of 84.02 meters, and Nick Thumn, who threw 83.49 meters. Polish javelin thrower David Wegner also surpassed the 82-meter mark with a throw of 82.40 meters. Italy places its hopes on Frattini, who has a significant opportunity to bring home a gold medal for the national team after a 44-year drought.
