Sevilla FC has officially announced the departure of a key figure from their board. Antonio Cordón, who joined the La Liga club last summer as Director of Football, has had his contract mutually terminated.
Cordón faced considerable criticism from Sevilla’s fanbase due to the team’s season-long struggle to avoid relegation from the top tier of Spanish football. Reports also suggest that Cordón had a strained relationship with other members of the club’s board at The Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium.
These tensions have led to the swift exit of the 62-year-old. A statement released by Sevilla FC on their website and social media platforms confirmed the agreement:
“Sevilla FC and Antonio Cordón have mutually agreed to terminate the employment relationship of the club’s Director of Football. Both parties have agreed to end his contract after the 2025/26 season, which concluded with the team securing its place in La Liga. The agreement will take effect on May 31, at the close of the current La Liga season.”
