Shaheen Afridi Claims the Top Spot in the Latest MRF Tyres ODI Bowling Ranking

The Pakistani quick – Shaheen Shah Afridi – becomes the No. 1 ODI Bowlers in the Latest ICC ODI bowling Ranking released on Novemebr 1, 2023. The left-arm pacer from Paksitan climbs to the top in the MRF ODI bowling Ranking after taking three wickets against Bangladesh in the 31st match of the CWC23.

Shaheen picks another three-fer against Bangladesh and reaches the top-spot in the latest ICC Bowler’s Ranking with 673 points, 10 more than the 2nd in the list, Josh Hazlewood. On the other hand, Muhammad Siraj who has been at his best at the onset of CWC23 but he has been dropped to 3rd with 656 points. Keshav Maharaj (651), Trent Boult (649), Rashid Khan (648), Kuldeep Yadav (646), Mujeeb ur Rehman (641), Adam Zampa (637) and Mohammad Nabi (631) are in the list of the latest Bowlers’ Ranking rolled out today.

There aren’t much difference among all top-ten ODI bowlers as we may see many ups and downs in the next week. All top bowlers have been participating in the Men’s ODI Worldcup 2023 therefore, there’s a likely chance that any other bowler can dethrown Shah’s supremacy right now.

He’s played 11 ODI WC matches with 29 wickets to his name and is currently the secondly best streak after Mitchell Starc who has consecutively taken wickets in his each 26 games of the ICC Worldcup matches. 

The left-arm fast bowler who has seen struggling in the initial games of ICC CWC23 has bounced back strongly against Australia. Currently,  Afridi is the joint leading wicket taker of the ICC CWC23 too with Aussie’s Leggy Adam Zampa. Both have got 16 wickets so far in the mega event.

Moreover, the left-arm quick has the 5th best career strike rate of 25.26. Further, he has been the 8th fastest to 50 ODI wickets but he has shown some brilliant guts enter into the race of the fastest to 100 ODI wickets club. This might be the best week for the pacer as he also achieved 2 feats in quick succession.

Afridi is also the 8th youngest player to take fifer in an innings. Moreover, he is on the 1st when it comes to most consecutive four-wickets-in-an-innings with 3 consecutive four-fers. During his 5-year brief ODI Career, Shaheen has bowled 2551 balls conceding 2315 runs and grabbed 101 wickets at an economy of 5.45. His Best ODI Innings figure also comes against BAN at Lords in ICC CWC19 where he got  6 for 35.
