Shane Watson is eager to become the highest-paid coach in Pakistan cricket history at PCB. 

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly targeting Shane Watson to promote him as the highest-paid coach in the history of Pakistani cricket, with an annual salary of $2 million but details are close Watson claims he can’t agree on the amount due to concerns he’s away from his family for a long time.

Though Watson’s possible choice remains unclear, others in the running for the Pakistan national men’s cricket team coaching job include Mike Hesson and Darren Sammy.

The Mohsin Naqvi-led PCB is keen to assemble a formidable coaching staff for the national team. However recruiting renowned teachers is a challenge, as many have already participated in competitions around the world.

Given the urgency to fill the coaching vacancies ahead of the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand. The five-match Twenty20 series between Pakistan and New Zealand will begin on April 18. It is worth mentioning that Mickey Arthur, Grant, who was sent back to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore in November 2023 was picked up by Bradburn and Andrew Putick positions in January this year.

Arthur took over as coach of the Pakistan men’s cricket team in April 2023, and Puttick, a former South African cricketer who was appointed head coach of the Bradburn Pakistan national men’s team in the same year, served as batting coach from April 2023 onwards.
