Smriti Mandhana has etched her name in the history books, becoming only the fourth woman cricketer to cross 10,000 runs in international cricket. She is the second player from India to reach this monumental milestone, following the legendary Mithali Raj, who tops the all-time charts with 10,868 runs. The only other players in this elite club are Suzie Bates of New Zealand (10,652) and Charlotte Edwards of England (10,273).

Crucially, Mandhana achieved this feat in record time, reaching 10,000 runs in just 281 innings across all formats. This makes her the fastest player globally to the mark. Mithali Raj previously held the record, reaching the landmark in 291 innings, while Edwards and Bates required 308 and 314 innings, respectively.

Mandhana completed the milestone during the fourth T20I against Sri Lanka. Needing 27 runs before the match, she secured the landmark with a single off left-arm spinner Nimasha Meepage. She went on to score an aggressive 80 off 48 balls, sharing a record-breaking 162-run opening stand with Shafali Verma—the highest T20I partnership for India for any wicket. Additionally, with three sixes in her innings, Mandhana surpassed Harmanpreet Kaur as India`s leading T20I six-hitter.

This achievement highlights an exceptional year for the Indian vice-captain. Earlier in the year, during India’s victorious Women`s World Cup campaign, Mandhana became the first woman to amass 1,000 ODI runs in a calendar year. She concluded the year as the top ODI scorer globally with 1,362 runs, significantly ahead of the next best, Laura Wolvaardt (1,174).

Mandhana also equaled the record for most ODI centuries in a calendar year (five), a feat shared only by South Africa’s Tazmin Brits and Wolvaardt. Furthermore, Mandhana recently became only the second player in women`s T20I history to surpass 4,000 runs in the format. Only Suzie Bates (4,716 runs) currently stands ahead of her on the all-time T20I run-scorers list.
