Stade Rennais has officially confirmed the acquisition of 25-year-old prolific striker Estéban Lepaul from Angers SCO. The promising forward has signed a robust four-year contract with “Les Rouge et Noir,” significantly bolstering Rennes` attacking capabilities for the upcoming seasons.
Reports indicate that Rennes successfully negotiated a substantial €15 million transfer package with Angers to bring their key offensive talent to Roazhon Park. Lepaul’s market value saw a dramatic rise last season after he impressively netted 13 goals across all competitions during his debut full campaign with Angers. He is now set to proudly wear Rennes` iconic No. 9 jersey, which became available following Arnaud Kalimuendo`s recent transfer to Nottingham Forest.
Throughout his impactful tenure at Angers, Lepaul made a total of 50 appearances, contributing significantly with 17 goals and three assists. In a curious twist, he is scheduled for an almost immediate return to Stade Raymond-Kopa, as Rennes are set to clash with Alexandre Dujeux’s Angers side this coming Sunday in a highly anticipated match.
“I genuinely feel this is a pivotal moment in my career. I am well-acquainted with the coach’s tactical philosophy, and I am confident that this is an environment where I can truly excel and flourish,” stated the former Olympique Lyonnais academy graduate.
Lepaul marks a significant addition, becoming Rennes` fifth summer signing. He joins a list of notable arrivals including Valentin Rongier, Quentin Merlin, Przemyslaw Frankowski, and Mahdi Camara, as the club actively strengthens its squad for new challenges.
