RC Strasbourg has officially announced the signing of England international left-back Ben Chilwell, 28, from Chelsea FC. Chilwell marks the 18th and final acquisition for Liam Rosenior’s squad this transfer window. Despite having a contract with Chelsea until 2027, Chilwell was reportedly no longer part of Enzo Maresca’s future plans at Stamford Bridge. He spent the latter half of the previous Premier League season on loan at Crystal Palace, where he notably helped them win the FA Cup.
The 2021 Champions League winner has committed to a two-year contract with the BlueCo-owned Ligue 1 club, which recently secured qualification for the UEFA Conference League. Chilwell is the third Premier League player to join Strasbourg on Deadline Day, following Julio Enciso from Brighton and Martial Godo from Fulham. His debut for Strasbourg is anticipated to be at home against Le Havre, following the upcoming international break.
