Ghanaian defender Tariq Lamptey has officially been presented at Fiorentina, following his transfer from Premier League club Brighton during the summer window.
The versatile full-back made his debut for the Viola in their recent match against Napoli. Speaking to reporters, with comments reported via TuttoMercatoWeb, Lamptey shared that his former coach at Brighton, Roberto De Zerbi, extended his best wishes upon hearing about the move.

When questioned about his decision to transition from England`s top flight to Italy`s Serie A, the defender expressed his satisfaction: “I`m delighted to be playing here in Serie A, which is undoubtedly a top-level league.”
He further elaborated on his aspirations, stating, “I hope to utilize my speed effectively. We have a strong squad, and everyone, including the fans, immediately made me feel very welcome.”
“I am eager to play regularly. While I`ve gained significant experience in the Premier League, this felt like the opportune moment for a move. My desire was to join a prestigious club like Fiorentina, which has an ambitious long-term vision.”
Lamptey Names Ronaldinho as His Idol

Lamptey also revealed that one of his greatest inspirations is the legendary Brazilian forward Ronaldinho, a player who famously graced Serie A. The former Ballon d’Or winner represented AC Milan between 2008 and 2011. Lamptey remarked, “I draw substantial inspiration from Dani Alves; I grew up watching him. However, my ultimate idol remains Ronaldinho.”
Concluding his remarks, Lamptey disclosed that Fiorentina was not the only club vying for his signature this summer. “Yes, there were other interested parties, but once Fiorentina presented their project and vision to me, I didn`t hesitate and committed to joining immediately.”
