Inter Milan recently rejected an offer from Crystal Palace for their defender Yann Bisseck, while West Ham United continues to show interest in the player. This raises the question: what qualities make the former Germany youth international such an attractive prospect for these Premier League clubs?
Both Crystal Palace and West Ham have seen their respective transfer bids for Bisseck rebuffed by Inter this summer. Earlier in the transfer period, West Ham reportedly submitted a €20 million offer, and more recently, Crystal Palace`s €32 million proposal was also rejected.
Inter, however, are holding firm on their €40 million valuation for the 24-year-old defender, whom they acquired for a modest €7 million, paid in two installments, just two years prior.
Yann Bisseck`s Profile and Journey to Inter Milan

Yann Bisseck is an imposing 6’5” (196 cm) central defender who developed through the youth academy of his hometown club, 1.FC Köln, though his initial first-team chances there were limited.
Following several loan spells early in his professional career, Bisseck, then 21, initially joined Danish club AGF on loan before making the move permanent in 2022.
His strong performances during that season in Denmark caught the eye of Inter Milan, prompting them to activate his €7 million release clause in the summer of 2023.

In his debut season at San Siro, the German primarily served as a backup, providing cover for established defenders like Alessandro Bastoni, Benjamin Pavard, and Francesco Acerbi. Nevertheless, he still managed to accumulate 21 first-team appearances, including three in the Champions League.
During a more recent season, Bisseck saw a significant increase in starting opportunities. He went on to play 27 matches in Serie A, 13 in the Champions League, four in the Coppa Italia, and featured in both fixtures of Inter’s Supercoppa Italiana campaign.
His contributions to Inter’s Champions League campaign included notable starts against top European clubs and participation in crucial knockout stage matches, showcasing his ability to perform on the biggest stage.
Tactical Suitability for Premier League Contenders

Having operated as a centre-back under Simone Inzaghi for the past two years, Bisseck has developed into a proficient specialist in a back-three defensive system.
While a three-at-the-back formation isn`t universally prevalent in the Premier League, both Crystal Palace, under Oliver Glasner, and West Ham are clubs that have shown a willingness to regularly employ such tactical setups, making Bisseck a natural fit.
During his tenure at Inter, Bisseck has demonstrated versatility, playing across all three central defensive positions, though he has most frequently been deployed on the right side of the back-three.

At 24 years old, combined with his imposing physicality and commendable ball-playing skills, Bisseck presents an attractive option for Premier League teams. Furthermore, his reported €40 million valuation is not considered excessive given the current spending trends within the league.
From a financial perspective, Inter stands to gain a substantial profit on Bisseck, potentially exceeding €30 million over a two-year period, should they secure their desired €40 million transfer fee.
