Young defender Tom Pouilly, aged 22, is reportedly set to transfer from RC Lens to Ligue 2 club Pau FC, signing a three-year contract. This move comes as per a report from L`Équipe.
Last season marked a significant turning point for the right-back, as he successfully transitioned from Lens`s reserve team to the senior squad under former head coach Will Still. Pouilly made 10 appearances for his boyhood club, including two starts in notable fixtures: a 2-1 victory against Olympique Lyonnais and a 1-1 draw with Toulouse FC.
While it seemed that Pouilly would continue his development this season, having been utilized in pre-season training as both a wing-back and a centre-back, the prospect of limited playing time became evident. This was largely attributed to the anticipated loan arrival of Saud Abdulhamid and the established presence of Ruben Aguilar within the squad.
Despite holding a contract with Lens until 2027, Pouilly has decided to seek a new chapter in his career in the south of France. He is expected to join Pau FC, also known as Les Béarnais, a team looking to improve upon their 13th-place finish in the previous season.
