UEFA Women’s Champions League Draw: Barcelona Meets Chelsea, Arsenal Faces OL Lyon

Defending champions Arsenal are set to clash with record eight-time winners OL Lyon in the inaugural league phase of the UEFA Women`s Champions League. Arsenal, who previously defeated Barcelona in Lisbon, will revisit the city to play Benfica as part of a demanding six-match schedule that also features an away fixture against Real Madrid, a team they overcame in the quarterfinals.

Barcelona, widely considered among the favorites for the trophy, will journey to face Chelsea and later host Bayern Munich. This presents a crucial chance for the English champions, Chelsea, especially after their 8-2 aggregate defeat in the previous season`s semifinals. Meanwhile, Manchester United, having navigated four qualifying rounds to secure a Pot Three berth, will play two French teams at home: OL Lyon and Paris Saint-Germain.

This season marks the debut of the Women`s Champions League league phase, a format mirrored from the men`s competition (introduced in 2024-25). This 18-team league will see the top four teams progress directly to the quarterfinals. Teams ranked from fifth to twelfth will compete in a two-legged knockout play-off. The final is scheduled for May 22-24 at Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo, Norway. The initial round of matches kicks off on October 7-8, with UEFA expected to confirm the full league phase schedule on Saturday.
