Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has finally spoken out about his failed transfer to AC Milan, attributing the collapse to his history of injuries. The player also delivered a sharp retort to fan criticism.
The 24-year-old Bayer Leverkusen forward was expected to join Milan on an initial loan deal with an option to buy. However, the move to San Siro fell through last week following unsuccessful medical examinations.
Boniface Explains Collapsed Milan Transfer

“The transfer didn`t work out because of my past injuries,” Boniface disclosed to Punch in his first interview since the deal collapsed. “I`ve had two knee injuries on my right leg, and it`s been a long-standing issue.”

Boniface underwent knee surgeries in 2019 and 2020 and also missed several matches in the 2024-25 season due to muscular problems.
The Nigerian forward has faced criticism in Germany for the numerous games he missed last season. He responded by saying: “Try to make it to my level before you insult me.”
Milan Agreement for Harder After Failed Boniface Move

Boniface remains under contract with Bayer Leverkusen until June 2028. During his time with the Bundesliga champions, he has scored 32 goals in 61 appearances, notably winning the domestic title in 2023-24 under Xabi Alonso.
Following the failed attempt to sign Boniface, AC Milan has reportedly reached an agreement to acquire Sporting CP forward Conrad Harder for €27 million, including add-ons.
