Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr. recently reaffirmed his support for Barcelona’s promising talent, Lamine Yamal.
This show of solidarity follows an incident during a recent international friendly match between Spain and Egypt.
During the goalless draw last week, certain segments of the Spanish home crowd at RCDE Stadium directed offensive chants at the opposing team, specifically targeting Muslims.
Lamine, who is Muslim, was understandably deeply affected by these chants.
In the aftermath of the match, the 18-year-old took to social media to express his frustration and appeal for improved fan behavior.
A week later, Lamine has garnered significant public support, most notably from the Real Madrid forward.
During a media appearance on Monday, Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr. seized the opportunity to state:
“I hope Lamine continues this fight against racism as well. We have financial resources, but poor black individuals face greater hardships than we do. I’m not claiming that Spain, Germany, or Portugal are inherently racist nations, but racists exist in every country. If we unite in this struggle, hopefully, other players and people will no longer have to endure such experiences.”
