Waqar Younis Refuses To Call Himself "Just A Pakistani" Following His Team's 2023 World Cup Loss Against Australia

Waqar Younis Refuses To Call Himself “Just A Pakistani” Following His Team’s 2023 World Cup Loss Against Australia. The Pakistani team consistently creates waves off the field, entertaining their supporters, even though they are performing below average in the current World Cup. Waqar Younis, a former cricket player for Pakistan, made headlines recently.

After Pakistan’s loss against Australia, Waqar met Aaron Finch and Shane Watson for a post-match discussion. The two former Australians got together and grinned, but Waqar then made the contentious statement, “I am a half-Aussie,” after a time.

Both of the former Australian players were taken aback by Waqar’s remark. Waqar is reportedly married to Faryal, a doctor who is Pakistani-Australian, and the family lives in Catle Hille, New South Wales. Three children are a blessing for the couple. The former cricket player from Pakistan is currently in India as a member of the broadcasters’ World Cup squad.

The majority of Pakistani fans did not find Waqar’s provocative comment to be well-received. One netizen reacted, stating, “You are first Pakistani, always remember that.” “Waqar Bhai, even though you are an Australian citizen, you are representing Pakistan in the broadcasting panel,” remarked another.

Regarding the Australia vs. Pakistan match, Pakistan chose to bowl first after winning the toss. Mitchell Marsh and David Warner, Australia’s opening pair, amassed 259 runs for the first wicket. Warner went on to make 163, and Marsh left for 121. Australia consequently defeated Pakistan by a mere 305, scoring a whopping 367.

If Babar Azam wants to make it to the knockout stages, they would need to regain their winning momentum against Afghanistan in Chennai on October 23. This is just a spinning track which favours Afghanistan more.
