West Bromwich Albion Targets Rennes Midfielder Glen Kamara

Football & Cricket

EFL Championship club West Bromwich Albion has reportedly initiated discussions for the transfer of Stade Rennais midfielder Glen Kamara. The 29-year-old, who joined Rennes just last summer, spent the latter half of the previous season on loan with Al-Shabab in the Saudi Pro League. Despite this temporary move, Kamara`s future does not appear to lie with the Saudi club, nor does he seem to be part of Rennes` long-term plans at Roazhon Park.

The midfield dynamics at Rennes have shifted considerably this summer, with the confirmed departures of Baptiste Santamaria and Azor Matusiwa. Further player exits from the midfield department are widely anticipated. Notably, Jordan James is attracting significant interest from clubs such as Parma, Wrexham, and another undisclosed Championship team. Kamara is also expected to depart the French club in the near future.

In recent days, Italian Serie A side Bologna, West Brom, and Danish club FC Copenhagen have all made inquiries regarding the Finland international. Each of these clubs has proposed a loan agreement that includes an option to make the transfer permanent. Currently, Bologna is understood to be leading the pursuit for Kamara`s signature, positioning themselves favorably in the race for his services.
