West Ham Assistant Paco Jemez Hints at Potential Rayo Vallecano Return

Football & Cricket

West Ham United’s assistant manager, Paco Jemez, has stated he would be willing to leave the club if offered the coaching position at his former team, Rayo Vallecano.

Since joining West Ham United earlier this year, Paco Jemez has significantly bolstered the Hammers’ chances of Premier League survival. Working alongside Nuno Espirito Santo, the London club has accumulated 12 points more than relegation rivals Tottenham Hotspur and eight more than Nottingham Forest.

Paco Jemez would leave West Ham for Rayo Vallecano

While the 55-year-old Spanish tactician remains fully focused on helping West Ham avoid the drop, he recently admitted he would eagerly seize the opportunity to manage Rayo Vallecano once more.

In an interview with SER Podcast, Jemez remarked that if Rayo were without a coach and needed someone, and he believed himself to be the right person, it would “only take him half a second to get there.”

When asked if he would consider having Nuno Espirito Santo as his assistant at the Spanish side, Jemez laughed off the suggestion, responding, “He’d have to return the favour, wouldn’t he?! The day I ask him, he’ll have to do it!”

Jemez has previously managed the La Liga outfit on two occasions between 2012 and 2020. Under his guidance, the Madrid-based team achieved their best-ever La Liga campaign, finishing eighth. Furthermore, they recorded the fourth-highest possession statistics among Europe’s major leagues, surpassed only by Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich.

Jemez is doing wonders at West Ham

Many believe Jemez has been the catalyst for West Ham’s improved survival prospects. His work ethic and intensity have transformed the mood within the camp, instilling a belief that they can indeed avoid relegation.

Despite enjoying his time at the London club, the 55-year-old was quick to reiterate that he wouldn’t hesitate for a moment to accept the Rayo Vallecano job. The Hammers are undoubtedly pleased to have him on their bench and are surely hoping that the Spanish club does not come forward with an offer for their assistant manager.
