Fiorentina is poised to formally announce Stefano Pioli as their new manager for his second spell at the club. This comes weeks after a preliminary agreement was reportedly reached.
The 59-year-old coach had accepted the position informally over a month ago, back on June 5.
He was still under contract with Al-Nassr and needed to mutually terminate that deal, which was officially completed on June 25.
Pioli is anticipated to arrive in Florence on Sunday to commence pre-season training. The official statement confirming his appointment is scheduled for Saturday, July 12.
Pioli`s Enduring Connection to Fiorentina Shaped by Tragedy
This upcoming period marks Pioli`s second tenure with the Viola, following his initial spell from 2017 to 2019.
His previous time at the club was particularly challenging, marked by the sudden and tragic death of captain Davide Astori.
That difficult experience created a strong bond between Pioli, the players, and the fans, who remember his leadership fondly during that period.
After leaving Fiorentina, Pioli went on to achieve significant success, winning the Serie A title (Scudetto) during his five-year spell at AC Milan, before joining Al-Nassr in September 2024.
Fiorentina had initially planned to continue with Raffaele Palladino. However, he unexpectedly chose to depart at the end of the season, despite having signed a contract extension just one year into his term.
