Why are fans booking hospital beds instead of hotel rooms for the India-Pakistan World Cup match? The World Cup 2023 match between India and Pakistan will be played in the legendary Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, and since the marquee match’s date was made public, hotel costs and airfares to Ahmedabad have surged.

According to estimates, all hotel rooms priced between Rs 50,000 and Rs 1 lakh are currently filled.

“Because it’s a hospital, they’re asking for a full-body check-up and an overnight stay, so both of their goals are met: saving money on lodging and getting their health checked,” Dr. Paras Shah, director of Sannidhya Multi Speciality Hospital in Bopal, told Ahmedabad Mirror.

Fans have devised a variety of techniques in order to save money and secure a room without paying the motels. Fans are reportedly contacting hospitals around the stadium to reserve their beds.

Prior to the summit confrontation on October 14, airline fares to Ahmedabad climbed dramatically, particularly for flights between Delhi and Mumbai and Ahmedabad. A direct flight from Delhi or Mumbai to Ahmedabad now costs between Rs 15,000 and Rs 22,000, a six-fold increase over the existing rate.

According to reports, hotel prices have gone up by 10 to 20 per cent. With the demand being high due to the match, hotel guests will have to shell out a lot more to get a room. Some hotels have already been sold out, according to reports.

Fans are making inquiries at hospitals for their stay because they have no other option due to the rising charges. Hospitals, it has been stated, are also welcoming. While the emphasis remains the patients’ health treatment, hospitals are claimed to be eager to accommodate these fans, who are also interested in getting a medical check-up during their stay.
