Luka Modric recently landed in Italy to complete his move to AC Milan. However, reporters gathered at Malpensa airport on Monday morning were met with an unexpected sight: former England and Chelsea captain John Terry, who happened to be there.
Terry`s presence was purely coincidental. He had spent the weekend on a personal trip to Como with friends, including former footballers Steve Sidwell and Bobby Zamora, and was simply at the airport for his return journey home at the same time as the media awaited Modric.
Terry Comments on Modric`s Milan Move
Upon being spotted by reporters at the terminal, Terry was asked for his thoughts on Modric`s imminent transfer to the Rossoneri.
“He`s one of the best in the world, he still has many, many years to play I`m sure,” Terry stated about Modric during a brief interview before heading back to the UK.
He added, “A fantastic person, like I said, one of the best players in the world, ever. Great for Milan for him to sign.”
Terry sought clarification, asking “It’s confirmed, is it done?”, before being informed that Modric was expected to land within the hour.
When questioned about the qualities Modric will bring to the Milan squad, Terry responded: “I think the experience he has in world football, obviously a big name coming into a fantastic club, one of my favourite clubs in Italy. So yeah, he’s just a world class player that can bring a little bit of experience as well, maybe at a time when Milan need it.”
